Coincidentally, this is my least favourite Christmas song of all time. Blech! But it was more appropriate than “Fall on your knees / O hear the angel voices” so I took some creative license.
We woke up early this morning with so much excitement to get the day started. We had so much to look forward to. We were spending the day with co-workers Adrienne, Vivian and her husband Michel for Christmas lunch and afternoon of movies!
We took the motorbike to the market for flowers and Tupperware (for leftovers, of course). On our way back we stopped in to get wine at the specialty store around the corner from our place. Then we showered, got our Christmas gear on and headed to Vivian & Michel’s in District 5.
When we arrived, we were greeted by Vivian and a beautifully decorated home! She spent a great deal of time adorning the ceiling with hundred of hand-cut snowflakes, a very convincing hearth and a Christmas tree made out of construction paper with wrapped boxes to complete the effect of Christmas morning.
Lunch had been ordered from one of the hotels in the city. It included a turkey and all the fixings: squash, baked potatoes, broccoli, stuffing, mashed potatoes made by Vivianne and the most amazing cranberry sauce any of us had ever tasted.
We took pictures of the bird, chowed down and then settled in to watch Christmas movies. Napping was encouraged and both Bagheera and I took full advantage of that. It was the most relaxing Christmas either of us could remember in recent years.
We ordered the very traditional Christmas meal of Domino’s Pizza for dinner and watched the fifth and final movie of the day.
We headed home around 21:00, tummies full with leftovers to boot! We zipped home just in time to Skype in for Christmas morning with our families back home. I didn’t miss Christmas at home until I saw everyone gathered around the Christmas tree complete with colour commentary from the three boys.
Pierre had his constant repetition of “Thanks Mum & Dad” in the annoying voice of “Kelly” from the YouTube video “Shoes.” The gifts were great and I can safely say the K Klan Fam is now part-owner of Under Armour. With their busy karate and kung fu schedules, they always need more skin-tight gear to prance around in. Santa knows what everybody needs.
The best gift I could have received on Christmas was the sight of our adorable family pet, five-pound toy poodle, Teddy.
We miss you all and hope that everyone is having a wonderful holiday.
Merry Christmas! Love from Mowgli & Bagheera xo
